Welcome to Hawaiian Paradise Dance Camp! The idea for HPDC developed from the desire to combine my two great loves: Dance and Hawaii.
HPDC offers a unique and memorable summer experience. Our camp combines quality dance training with activities only available on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Our campers have the opportunity to study various dance forms, to learn classic choreography, new works by our staff and to create pieces of their own. In addition to the traditional curriculm of a dance camp, our students are introduced to the culture of the people of Hawaii and to the earth sciences displayed on the Big Island with its amazing range of environments and unrivaled natural wonders.
All but two of the world’s climate zones can be found on the Big Island, from lush rain forests, volcanic deserts, snow-capped mountaintops to beautiful black and green sand beaches.
Our camp takes place at the beautiful Kalani Honua Resort: http://www.kalani.com* and through our Kuka'i (exchange) program we will provide a guided environment where Hawaiian and Mainland kids can exchange dances and perspectives on the unique challenges facing the youth of the 21st century.
Hawaii is home to one of the world’s most active volcanoes, Kilauea, and Volcanoes National Park: http://www.nps.gov/pwr/havo/ We will explore the park by day and watch the lava by night as it flows to the ocean creating the newest Hawaiian island, Loihi.
We will visit Mauna Kea, one of the most renowned astronomical sites on the planet, and the location of the world famous Keck Telescope http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/info/vis/ for an evening of guided star gazing.
And what trip to Hawaii would be complete without experiencing a Polynesian luau?
Our enrollment is limited to provide our dancers with individual attention and more specialized training.
We host campers ages 14 and up in our housing. However, 12 and 13 year olds may participate on a daily basis if they are staying on premises with their parents.
(This arrangement creates a fabulous vacation opportunity for the entire family. Your child can dance and explore the island with other kids - under our supervision, of course, while you can enjoy some alone time exploring Hawaii... or join us in our adventures.)

Additionally, if you would like to share your teen's adventure in Hawaii, we can help arrange discounted accommodations at Kalani for you as well. You may even join us on our outings, but you will need a permission slip signed by your child!
* Please note. Kalani Honua is a clothing optional resort throughout the year. However, during the camp clothing will be mandatory for all guests.
